About Ruba
Poetic dream pop, from Nazareth to London.
Ruba Shamshoum is a Palestinian musician, vocalist and composer. She studied jazz performance in Ireland and writes poetic dream pop where improvisation and Middle Eastern tradition meet — music that explores femininity, vulnerability and human connection.
Two studio albums — Shamat (2017) and Risha (2021) — songs charting across the Middle East and North Africa, a film score, a TED talk (2016), and the 2023 applied-theatre play Olive Jar.
